About

Grant Zizzo is a legally blind film director based in Los Angeles. Born with a rare condition leaving him with no fovea—only peripheral vision—Zizzo experiences the world in a perpetual widescreen view. He aims to capture his unique visual perspective through film and still photography.

Zizzo holds an MFA in Film and Television Production from Loyola Marymount University, and a BGS in Film and Media Theory from the University of Kansas. His debut short, "Bag Lady," received Best Picture at the 45th annual Tensie Awards, was recognized in numerous festivals and aired on a Kansas-local PBS shorts program. He is currently working with multi-Emmy winning executive producer Matt Lutz to develop a scripted sci-fi TV series. Grant’s previous experience comes from live television directing and producing. His work with client ASU, Zocalo Public Square includes over 16 episodes, one of which won the Socal Journalism award for Investigative Journalism from the Los Angeles Press Club.

In addition to creative direction and producing, Zizzo is an accomplished broadcast engineering director having led teams producing The Grammys, Adobe MAX, The Game Awards and numerous other shows. Additionally, he has worked as lead-post producer on “Rubio” a documentary with theatrical release and “The Rubio Project” which aired on ESPN and Netflix. Beyond film and TV, he enjoys time with his family of four and working on high-concept art projects with his wife, professional fiber artist, Aneesa Shami Zizzo..
